M-Pesa (M for mobile, pesa is Swahili for money) is a mobile phone-based money transfer, financing and microfinancing service, launched in 2007 by Vodafone for Safaricom and Vodacom, the largest mobile network operators in Kenya and Tanzania.

M-TIBA was developed out of strategic partnership between CarePay, PharmAccess Foundation and Safaricom, leveraging the respective strengths to deliver healthcare solutions to over 100,000 Kenyans through 60 health care providers all for less than KSHs.300.
